Steps to reproduce:

I am starting Firefox 17 i.e. http://www.spiegel.de, navigate to any news article, use the scrollbar thumb to scroll down. From there I click on a link which navigates me to another articel.

The hanging situation is not limited to the described URL above. It happened on many different pages.


Actual results:

Sometimes the scrollbar thumb hangs. it is no longer possible to drag it with the mouse and move it, although the text scrolls down with the mouse movement. It is also possible to scroll the page with the keyboard but in this case the scrollbar thumb hangs too and stays at the top of the page. 

When I use the history navigation bottons of Firefox 17 to go back to the previous page the scrollbar stop hanging. Navigation forward from the previous page to the page the showed the hanging scrollbar the scrollbar hangs again. 

I need to reload the page with the hanging scrolbar to get it working again.



Expected results:

Dragging the thumb of the scrollbar the thumb should move up and down with the scrolling page.

Some more observations:

- the issue seems to be related to zooming of pages. I could note recreate the issue with normal pages. As soon as the page is zoomed the issue happens sooner or later. So users of addons like NoSquint are more likely to be affected
- I am using normally the NoSquint 2.1.6 addon which handles site specific zoom levels but deactivated the addon for my tests described above. So the issue happens without the NoSquint addon.
-There is a forum discussion on a german firefox forum http://www.camp-firefox.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=101277&p=837218. They describe the same issue with Firefox on Windows.
- Normally when a user move the mouse pointer over the scrollbar thumb, the thumb is highlighted with a small blue border. When the thumb hangs it is not highlighted on mouse over.

This issue is not only related to Linux, the problem also occurs on Windows!

Just tested with 17.0.1. The bug still happens
