Steps to reproduce:

1.The computer could be standing idle and i will come back to a message telling me that t bird crashed.

2.Also have a problem with tbird timing out when sending emails, my account is a gmail, and it always says smtp timed out.


Actual results:

1.Tbird crashes, notification is shown , and and a Tbird restarts.

2.Normally have to re send email 2 or 3 times when this happens, which is about 50% of the time.


Expected results:

I had windows 8 running for a while and tbird ran fine. This is is a new install of win7 i am running and its fully updated.

The crashing also happens with fire fox on 35% of the time, again this was also fine on win 8

the first crashid is  [@ morkBookAtom::EqualFormAndBody(morkEnv*, morkBookAtom const*) ] - so this may be a match to Bug 624387 

 [@ js::gc::IsMarked<js::gc::Cell> ]  has a bug filed as Bug 783896 - crash in js::gc::IsMarked

llast crashid is [@ js::ShapeTable::search(int, bool) ]  has a bug 812319

Only bug 812319 offers info, and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=812319#c0 hints at Yandex Bar being involved

I dont have mcafee, i have AVG. i have recently put Tbird and fire fox in compatability mode hoping this might help but still the same.

Ok both fire fox and tbird are in safe mode , tbird with add ons disabled. 
FYI i have tbird setup on win xp pro with exact same add ons, on my laptop and its rock solid.
Also on the wifes laptop same setup again with win 7 home addition

sorry on this install as i recently flattened the machine i have started from v17, but i have had this problem on previous versions as well. 
The list of bugs is from the begining of this machines life , if you like, since i flattened it

Nick does it crash if you use beta from http://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/channel/ or windows' safe mode per http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7  ??

Hi Wayne

Haven't tried the beta version, and as it is the only thing that goes wrong, I don't really go into safe mode. It has been crashing less lately, but when it does, it's 3 - 4 hits in a row.
