Build ID: 20130104151925
Steps to reproduce:
This problem started just after upgrading to version 18 of Firefox desktop. The browser closed completely (and pops up a crash report window) when I close a tab (usually the right most one but sometimes other tabs), when I close a second browser window, and at other times as well.
Actual results:
Browser closes when it shouldn't and pops up a crash report window.
Expected results:
Should have stayed open and allowed me to continue surfing internet.

You have 2 extensions from Norton installed.
Can you disable them in the addon manager ?
(tools/addons/extensions or about;addons )
That answer would really help us to solve the issue for other users.
You crash is caused by Norton software. The crashing DLL belongs to them and they are already working on a fix.

You are right. When I disabled the two Norton extensions the problem disappeared, at least so far.
Thanks for the help. It would have been helpful to list this as a known problem with version 18 on the mozilla site even though the problem was apparently caused by Norton software.
