User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 Build ID: 20130116073211 Steps to reproduce: OS: Windows 7 When I try to search in Ctrl+K some e-mails like 'b-z.07@mail.ru' I get incorrect search results. I noticed that the decisive role played by the characters '-' and '.' when they are simultaneously present in the title of your email address before the @. At the same time CTRL+SHIFT+F-search works correctly. Actual results: Displays the last 400 messages (when sorting by date), regardless of the presence in them of the desired address. Expected results: Should show only the messages containing the desired address.
Severity: normal → major
Component: Untriaged → Search

The exact example in comment 0 "b-z.07@mail.ru" is a combination of

  • Bug 523183 - [faceted search] gloda fulltext search does not match partial terms (by default), eats short terms potentially causing misleading search failures
  • Bug 532836 - let user know if the search keyword is not indexed when "No messages match your search"

... so because of all the punctuation, and because 07 is less than three characters (the minimum token size), nothing in b-z.07 gets tokenized
