RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 780124

People

(Reporter: hufraser, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.52 Safari/537.17

Steps to reproduce:

Tried to send a message via Bigpond's SMTP server from Optus Mobile Broadband IP 49.176.33.7 (I'm actually using Amaysim which is an MVNO on the Optus network). I'm behind a carrier-grade NAT and share this IP with many other users. The IP address is apparently listed in Spamhaus's block list :(

Server name: mail.bigpond.com
Port no: 465
Connection Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication Method: normal password

Exact Thunderbird version: 17.0.2

Actual results:

Thunderbird produced the error message "An error occurred sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: nschwcmgw06p BigPond Outbound [OB105. Connection refused. 49.176.33.7 is listed on the Exploits Block List (XBL). Please visit http://www.spamhaus.org/xbl/ for more information.."

However, the message was moved to the Sent folder despite not being delivered (I sent it to myself as a test, so I know it didn't make it).

Expected results:

The message should stay in the Drafts folder to let the user know it hasn't been sent.
I realize this bug might be hard to reproduce for you guys (sorry!), but for me at the moment it's quite repeatable, even though I get a different IP address with each data session on the Optus network.
Report of same problem as bug 780124?
It really looks like the same problem.
Closing as dup of bug 780124. If duping is wrong, re-open, please.
