As a user I want to install a privileged app in desktop Firefox.

A privileged app is an app which has "type": "privileged" in its app manifest.

I want that too! :) Our first step will be to bring the app packaging format to desktop builds of Firefox.

Hmm, yes.

From an app developer's point of view, it really sucks that you can't just load a *hosted* privileged app in your desktop browser by typing its URL. That would provide access to all the awesome developer tools in Firefox, and allow you to just refresh the page every time you make a change.

There used to be a pref for this, but it got removed due to security concerns.

The current workflow of having to re-package and re-install an privileged app every time you make a change really sucks and isn't very web-like :(
