I also would enjoy being able to have such an integration, it would offer a more consistent user experience for Linux / Gnome users.

Any news if that feature would be on the roadmap for future releases ? thx!
I was forced to switch from thunderbird to evolution a couple of years ago, as I have one email account in an microsoft AD environment with a username in the following form: [domain][user], and the only way to login is through gnome online accounts, which evolution supports, but sadly, thunderbird does not.
Please consider adding this functionality.
I think it is about time this will be resolved.
It stop(s/ed) me from using Thunderbird.
Please integrate with Gnome ones and for all. (online accounts, calendar, todo)

The entire staff focus for the last 12 months has been Supernvova version 115 (which brings improvements for all platforms) and will continue to be so through September. This bug will be evaluated after September, if no statement has been posted by then.

I used Thunderbird for many years but grudgingly switched to Evolution awhile back because of this issue. IMHO, contacts and calendar sync should be considered an essential, core functionality for any application that manages contacts and calendars. Evolution's user interface is clunky as heck, but at least I don't have to pull out my phone every time I want to look up an email address.
Supernova looks great, but I think it's time to seriously focus developer attention on this issue. It's really way past due. If someone on the Mozilla team wanted to create fundraiser specifically earmarked for the development costs of implementing this feature, I'd happily contribute to that.

Thanks for asking.
gnome accounts is a feature that the core team will not develop, but we’re happy to take patches from contributors.
More generally, better OS integration in general is something we will review around the end of the year but we need to scope it and be methodical on what we want to support.

I just switched from Geary to Thunderbird because Geary is not sending emails reliably for me and the new Thunderbird 115 looks and feels great. I was looking though for this exact feature. I do agree with the speakers before me that this is such an integral feature of an email application that used to be the standard on Linux desktop. Gnome and KDE are the two biggest platforms, of them Gnome is from my knowledge even a bit bigger. The only accounts feature is right there, why not integrate Thunderbird with it? I have my Nextcloud, MS email and work email (exchange) already linked in Gnome, as many others will have too for sure. It would be such a great feature to have them loaded automatically into Firefox. I really think this issue should be prioritised higher and I feel the the fact that this request is 11 years old and people are still commenting here supports that.

I was just trying to switch to Thunderbird and found that there is no integration with Gnome Online accounts.
If Thunderbird is the default email application in Fedora, it's a bug that it doesn't have this integration. And the fact that he hasn't had it for so many years is really a bad disappointment.
It would certainly help Thunderbird.
However, similar to other (once famous) Mozilla applications, they will probably be overtaken by newly created applications that will be faster, more flexible, more customizable and modern looking.
It is very sad.
