RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 780124

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130215130331

Steps to reproduce:

Outgoing server smtp.att.yahoo.com

Compose a new message. Click "Send".

Actual results:

Occasionally (more frequently, in recent months), the Yahoo! SMTP server responds to Thunderbird in some way that causes Thunderbird to display a dialog box. The message in the dialog box says 'The server at smtp.att.yahoo.com responded "Resource temporarily unavailable; please try again later."'.

However, despite this transient failure message, as soon as the user dismisses the message dialog, Thunderbird treats the "Send" as having been successful. The new email message composition window closes and the message is moved to the "Sent" folder.

Expected results:

The transient failure should have been recognized as a failure to hand off the message from Thunderbird to the SMTP server. The message composition window should remain active for a retry of the "Send" operation (or some other alternative action by the user, such as saving the new message as draft until retrying at a later time).
