**** observed with mtrunk build 2001-06-11-04 build **** Steps to reproduce: - open new Mail composition; - enter a non-ascii char that would be a part of a recipient name in your AB or CA, for example :"ü" -note//: there is no match found, the domain is appended "ü@netscape.com"; - if you would enter "G" it'll bring you a list of recipients where "Günter Grass" will be among other matches but it won't recognize the difference between u,ü and û. i am attaching the sample of ABook

I can confirm that this problem exists, but it is not a problem with the autocomplete widget. The non-ascii string is correctly passed to the addressbook autocomplete session, which fails to match correct. So, this problem is in the addressbook autocomplete session code. Reassinging

it seems working in 2001-06-12-04 build, the only thing that is not working is that you can not enter a non-ascii for the second position; for example g+ALT+235. After entering "g" you get the list of matches and hitting Alt+235 will distroy the autocompletion.you'll get something like G...@netscape.com+Alt+235. The copy/paste works.

it looks like the fix for bug # 43429 fixed this problem as well. with 2001-09-25-0.9.4 build the autocompletetion is not distrought when i am entering non-ascii chars using Alt+ num pad. I am marking this as fixed.
