At Mozilla we work on many different products and employ a variety of product management techniques. This is the place to discuss best practices, experiences with different approaches and anything else related to product management.

Justification / Special Instructions:

Product management is still a somewhat new development at Mozilla, and there are currently no forums to discuss best practices, experiences with different approaches and anything else related to product management.

This is a fine idea, but my worry would be that people would start to use the group for managing products, rather than discussing product management. Is there any way we can tweak the name to make that less likely? mozilla.community.product-managers , for example?

Also, can you find one or two other product managers to endorse this request, so I can be more certain it won't be just you? :-)

Since most products have their own lists and tools I'm pretty sure it would be easy for us to keep discussions on topic. I would rather not rename to make it clear that the topic of this list is the actual process of managing a product, not the people who manage products, but if you feel strongly about it, I'd go along. I wouldn't want this to stop the creation of this list.

About support for this: William R. is a co-creator, and I'm pretty sure we'll find more interested parties if necessary :)

I endorse this request. We're talking with other product managers as well to make sure we'll have active discussions. I already have a few topic ideas in mind :-)

I would also prefer the name mozilla.product-management. As moderators, Kadir and I can make sure the discussions stay on topic :-)

This is now being replicated over nntp://

The final step is waiting on Google Groups. Pushes happen on their internal schedule, but it should be <2 weeks. Closing out the bug, as there is nothing more to do on our end.

Michael, I might have received the password, but since it was mailing list password reminder day on Monday, I got a dozen or so mails and deleted them all. Would it be possible to resend the password?
