Details

I use an ssh tunnel to place SMTP on a non-privileged port while at home If I don't do this, I can't send any mail. Please allow the use of non-standard ports in mailnews preferences. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.4.2-XFS i686; en-US; rv:0.9.1) Gecko/20010609
I was able to make that work fine by entering the hostname as "localhost:1111". It should be more obvious how to do it from the GUI, but it does work.
On the normal "add..." it seems to work In the Original wizard thing that pops up the first time you start mail/news It pops up a dialog saying "Please enter a valid hostname" if you have a :port in the entry.
bug 14354 was supposed to have a fix, but it doesn't look like it. there was another bug filed recently that this is a DUP of, but I can't find it
This appears to be a duplicate of bug# 52330. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 52330 ***
