Build ID: 20130307023931
Steps to reproduce:
Attaching pdf files to outgoing e-mail
Actual results:
Recipients cannot read the attachments because they are converted to html garbage text
Expected results:
They should have been able to read the pdf file as it was sent...
I have ensured this is a T-bird problem and not a problem with creation of the pdf file. I can forward pdf files from other e-mail clients (e.g. web based e-mail) and then send from T-bird without incident, but if I attach the file in T-bird, it attaches it as a text/html instead of application/pdf.
Bug 276409 addressed this, but the resolution doesn't apply to this version of T-Bird (considering this is 9 years later...)
I found the resolution elsewhere. The fix is in the tools/options/attachments/Incoming section. I had two MIME options for acrobat files and one was showing text/plain. I deleted that and now it's defaulting to the correct one as application/pdf.
Assuming that you are the same Mark from the http://gsfn.us/t/3tpun thread in GetSatisfaction, I'm marking this as a duplicate of the identified bug report.
