Tracking bug for exposing the SimplePush API to web pages on Firefox Desktop. Various items need discussion before SimplePush can be enabled for web pages - Permissions + doorhanger - Push persistence across browser sessions, related to uniquely identifying tabs Please comment on other things to consider
Ideally we adopt the Future for this: bug 856410.
Is this the same as http://www.w3.org/TR/2013/WD-push-api-20130815/ ? I see the same methods but with Promise and some more goodies.
Are there any updates on this? Seems like the W3C spec is firming up and might be a good target to code to.
The intention is to wait for ServiceWorkers to shape up and integrate the notification receiving bits of push with ServiceWorkers. We'll try to ship per spec. Also see Blink's intent to implement - https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!topic/blink-dev/GLXyXABvA_0

We're shipping the standard Push API in bug 1153503.
