Bug to track the localization of the Get Involved page and related assets into Arabic. Assets are not in place yet -- Brian or Pascal will let you know as soon as they are. More about the strings to localize are at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Contribute/Funnels#By_Locale More information about managing a localized contribution funnel is at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Contribute#Contribution_Funnels

I've setup the files in SVN for ar: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/locales/ar/mozorg/ http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.com/trunk/locales/ar/templates/mozorg/emails/ Note the email templates are customisable, you can customise them and add/change to information about your local community. We'll need an email address that will receive emails from the form on the page. I recommend an alias where a few community members are on, so as to share the work in triaging the emails. More information on the process: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Contribute/Funnels/Process Once the files are checked in, you can see the result at: https://www-dev.allizom.org/ar/contribute/

So the video also needs to be localized.. Humm I wonder... Should it be made in Arabic from the ground up.. or just hardcode subtitles ?

Hi Ahmed, right now the video is not localizable (bug 769715). When it is, it will be subtitled. But if you want to help there are two files that need to be translated (contribute.lang and 15years.lang) ;-)

I see you've localized 15years.lang in bug 944732. To move this bug forward we need two things. 1) an email address for your community where all request will be directed. Ideally an alias, not a public mailing list (privacy issues) 2) we need to create a custom banner, hoping I won't have problems with Arabic fonts. The banner will look like this https://mozorg.cdn.mozilla.net/media/img/contribute/mozilla15/moz15-mark-it.png I must confess that my knowledge of RTL languages is pretty limited. Is this string OK for the banner? > 15 Ψ³ΩΨ© Ω Ω ΩΨ¨ Ψ£ΩΨΆΩ

I prefer this one 15 Ψ³ΩΨ© Ω Ω ΩΩΨ¨Ω Ψ£ΩΨΆΩ Could you please send me a blank banner and I'll add the text to it thanks

Hello.. For the email: info@arabicmozilla.org Also I see no harm in > 15 Ψ³ΩΨ© Ω Ω ΩΨ¨ Ψ£ΩΨΆΩ In fact it's the best expression we could use. Just make sure that "15" is on the right not as bugzilla shows it (on the left).

it's not commonly used, even though is better than the one I suggested, but we can make your proposition better by adding "Tashkeel" to it 15 Ψ³ΩΨ© Ω Ω ΩΩΨ¨Ω Ψ£ΩΨΆΩ

This is basically what I had to do with another locale unsupported by font/Photoshop: create a web HTML page with the red background (#EA3B28), drop shadow (3px vertical, color #7A1414), copy and paste the text on the blank banner. Feel free to do all the tests you need. Once finished we'll need to check the page for RTL issues.

Here's Mack, Mozilla Tunisia's Designer. I don't know how it all began but sometime ago we were asked to provide an Arabic version of the banner. So I asked him to do it since he's experienced with Arabic designs and he did. Maybe he can provide us his ready example ? :) Or better uses the empty banner to do it again ? :) Youghourta can you add the text you too ? :) Let's see which one is more accurate. Thank you :)

(In reply to Francesco Lodolo [:flod] from comment #5) > To move this bug forward we need two things. Sorry, there's also the main file to localize (contribute.lang). Not sure why it wasn't tracked, while 15years.lang was. I've added it now, webdashboard should catch up in 15 minutes.

Thanks Youghourta. I think this page is going to receive an update very soon, losing the 15 years template. If there are problems with RTL, we'll need to enable the old template and try to fix them on the next one. At this point we still need two items as explained in comment 5: * mandatory: an email address to receive requests from the online form * localized banner (see comment 12). We can also decide to use the English one to speed things up, considering the graphic will stay online only a few weeks.

Ahmed has already given you this email address info@arabicmozilla.org (comment 7) and your banner (comment 11) looks pretty good

Ouch, I missed it. Great, I'll start doing some tests locally and try to create a pull request.

I think there are some issues, not sure we'll have time to fix them, but at least I'll have data to evaluate the new design. Slides: does it make sense that move next is "move right"? Should it be "move left" = "move ahead"? List of Interest areas, image remains on the left instead of being on the right, which I think should be the correct position.

I'm sure there are other issues (for example checkboxes), but can you confirm if these changes are correct? https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/pull/1600#issuecomment-32833990

It appears when you select an area in the contact form, and the square is always on the left. Checking if I can this that too.
