Steps to reproduce:

I wanted to run firefox as usual with ALL unecessary tab bars hidden for me. Please note that if someone turns OFF all bars then he means it.


Actual results:

Tab bar should hide when there is 1 tab open, if it's messing with something as described in 855370, will it mess it with button bars off? Then why won't we just detect it?


Expected results:

Tab bar should close since user decided to do it and a lot of people got used to such feature making also it the reason to use firefox. Please, I don't want to complain but I really find this feature not being very useful the way it was JUST deleted. I think we should do some smarter way like: If we, at this point, are sure  (like turning OFF other bars that may get messed with it or using classic Nightly skin) we will not mess anything, apply tab hiding feature if user desired to use it. If for example user turns on at least one single bar besides titlebar that is always visible [or using some theme that != classic nightly skin] then automatically switch to tabbar always showing to not mess themes.

I think this way would be more user friendly. Respecting all old firefox members using this feature for long time and getting used to this behaviour. Imagine someone running a lot of small zoomed out windows or a lot of windows on high res (I do first one - for tracking purpouses). Do he/she needs to see that ONE TAB open information if he/she, for a reason, did enable autohiding of tabbar? I think he doesn't and I think he used firefox for that reason. :)

If You really think there is no way to make You think it over, and close this report, then feel free to do so. I will stay on old version and hope someone reopens it someday to make it really in one bar as it was before.

Please mozilla devs, don't disable this function as well, I really like customizing mozilla to my personal needs. Thanks. :)

I also oppose the plan to force the tab bar to be always on. I have it set to hide when there is only one tab, and I expect that option to remain available.

In bug #855370, It was stated that "It's the professional opinion of the Firefox user-experience and engineering teams that this is a highly desirable change."

I submit that the professional opinion of the Firefox user-experience and engineering teams is wrong.

If the hidden tab bar causes a problem for the Australis theme, then fix the Australis theme.  Don't take away a popular feature.
