i believe the sound control from radio has a problem as well that possibly could be related to that. when you set all sound to zero on settings and turn on the radio it still has absurdly high volume. Even when you put to zero on the volume side buttons as well it remains extremely loud.
I'm seeing a different behavior for v1.1; Camera is not making sound. Having said that Camera should always make a sound when recording http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20031111/099242.shtml
Silent mode in bug 819842 will mute notification/content channel at the same time. But we need to test each case mentioned in comment 0 after it is landed. I think (2) take a picture, (3) sent message, and (4)lock the screen are all muted but (1)Make a call what does this mean? Mute the voice really doesn't make sense in any case.
i think (1) make a call means DTMF tones
(In reply to Joe Cheng [:jcheng] from comment #5) > i think (1) make a call means DTMF tones Maybe we said it as dialer's key tone with accurate word because DTMF tone will be a sound sent to remote side during in_call state and that tone is generated by modem not media element from Firefox OS.

(In reply to Naoki Hirata :nhirata (please use needinfo instead of cc) from comment #3) > Camera is not making sound. Having said that Camera should always make a > sound when recording http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20031111/099242.shtml We haven't heard this requirement (certification or otherwise from anyone. Plus, I highly doubt this is a requirement anywhere outside of South Korea: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/32442/jurisdictions-where-camera-shutter-sound-is-mandated-by-law
Not a blocker for shipping since it's not a certification blocker but putting c= in the whiteboard to get this into scrum backlog evals.

I had suffered the same issue. The way to reproduce it on Inari: 1. use volume up/down button(real button) to make sure it is not mute. 2. use Volume -> Ringer & Notification to mute the sound. At the same moment, mute icon is shown at the status bar. 3. lock screen with power button 4. unlock screen
The issue is still present on Hamachi (Alcatel One Touch Fire) running Firefox OS 1.3. Can we please split this issue up? I'd like to mute the unlock sound especially, once I muted the device via longholding the power button and selected 'mute'.
Firefox OS is not being worked on
