Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130409194949

Steps to reproduce:

I have a correspondent whose email is in the form "name@a-xyz" [that's a dash between the 'a' and the 'x']

He also has other addresses. So, to snag this odd address when composing an email: I type "a-x", to finesse the autocomplete.

Actual results:

....but nothing happens. The dash confounds the process.

If I type "name", every address shows up, including the one with the 'dash'.

In contrast, while in the address book, the 'dash' and "a-x" do not foil the search, finding the relevant address. The code for searching, there, is obviously slightly different.

Within the address book, the address is found in "collected addresses" in two forms: "Name@A-XYZ.Com" and "name@a-xyz.com".

Expected results:

Other thoughts:
Whoever takes on the code fix might also discover other quirks/differences between the two coding schema for address searches (ie: compose window versus address book), by comparing the code. There might also be good cause to use a single subroutine in both cases...
