RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 358149

People

(Reporter: neil, Unassigned)

Details

Using Build ID: 2001061304

Steps to reproduce problem:
1. Create a folder in the personal toolbar.
2. Right-click the folder on the personal toolbar, not in the sidebar or window.

Actual results: Expand item appears in context menu.

Expected results: Expand item only relevant for sidebar or bookmarks window.
Bookmark context menus contain the default option: "Open" for bookmarks and
"Expand" for folders. That's why it appears. At the moment, only bookmarks have
the default option in their context menus, which is inconsistent (links, for
example, don't have the default "Open" action listed). I believe MPT is working
on a new context menu spec that will probably state that all context menus
should include the default action.

Changing component to User Interface Design.
Component: Bookmarks → User Interface Design
Reassigning to MPT.

collapse normally
See bug 64749, "Add point 'Open link' to context menu when right-clicking on a
link", for more discussion about listing the left-click action on context menus.
See also bug 86786, Expanding a folder on the Personal Toolbar stays on top of
all other windows.
As of build 2001092803, I"m not seeing the Expand menu item for Personal
Toolbar folders. If someone can confirm, I think we can close this bug.
Thanks for pointing this out Chris. Works for me in build 2001092703.

pch, Jan:
is it possible to get a decision (/opinion) from you if this bug should be fixed
(or WONTFIXed)?
PRO (fix): quite useless, causes several strange bugs
CONTRA: bug 64749, consistency(?)
well, opening the folder is the default action. what does IE?
It literally opens the folder by turning itself into Explorer.
