Upon importing Mail from OutLook Express 5.0 I went to view a couple of my messages and the found the messaeg bodies don't correspond to the messaeg headers. This is a serious problem for those who want to start using MailNews who are converting from Outlook Express because there messages aren't stored in any order that can be retried unless you edit the mail file manually (which is a pain in the ass wehen you have 4000+ messages) If this bug gets fixed is there going to be a utility to extract proper dates from message bodies to fix already spoiled mail conversions. If not I'm screwed.

Cavin, could this be a dup of the bug you just fixed regarding escaping "From" at the beginning of a line?

No, the fix I did was for Outlook and Eudora. Outlook Express already has code to handle this but it may break some special cases but I don't know for sure. Reporter, is it possible for you to show us one or two msgs which causes the problem? I think you have to see the bad imported msgs in the thread pane and then find it in the mail file/folder, and cut and paste the msgs. Then attach it to this bug.

Reporter, I think the fix for bug 89235 (checked in 2002-02-12) may also fix this one so can you try the lastest build to verify it when you get a chance?
I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner. I've been using mailnews more lately and haven't expereinced the mismatched message header to message body problem. Also upon importing messages not all headers are marked as undread or read. I think they should be marked as "READ/UNREAD" depending on how they were in the program that created them. But if this can't be fixed I think they should be marked all as "READ". The only problem that I have experienced is that when trying to import messages it prompts you for the mail directory? That is useful to users who know something about computers but to the average "Joe Smuck" this would be confusing. Mozilla should check the default directory first and then prompt for the mail directory.

Reporter, looks like your original problem has been resolved and you should file separate bugs for the two problems/issues you indicated.
