Sometimes, the homepage on marketplace-dev app loads with "No apps in this category, try again later". Usually relaunching the app fixes the problem.

I think this was due to github being down mid-day.  is this still reproducible?

This is caused by 500s on /apps/search/featured API endpoint for the homepage.

I'm not sure what the fix is here. "Keep the site up?" Production doesn't depend on GitHub's uptime. Can we close this?

I've been seeing the API return 503s sometimes - this is likely elasticsearch barfing on us.

Now there are no apps displayed on the homepage at all and the error is continuously displayed ever after refreshing the page.

That was happening around the time we had ES instability and upgraded to ES 0.2.0 (in bug Bug 874590).  I'm going to close this as fixed since I can't reproduce it.
