I see discussion of TB supporting "Services" and TB supporting the 'open -a' command at Bug 309708 and Bug 606918. Are any of these things helpful or related to Bug 871314 (this bug)?

questions about technical implementation are best asked in mozilla.dev.apps.thunderbird newsgroup. If the advice there leads you to believe there is a bug in THunderbird, please revisit this bug.
