Ok, so this bug has a few requests (that I can rip out to seperate bugs if need be, just tell me dividing lines) 1) undo the DNS confusion -- cb-seamonkey-linuxmaster-01 and sea-master1 have had DNS entries flipped. -- currently (internally on jumphost) cb-seamonkey-linuxmaster-01 points to 63.245.223.98 -- currently (internally on jumphost) sea-master1 points to 63.245.223.11 -- currently (external-to-jumphost) cb-seamokey-linuxmaster-01.mozilla.org points to <nothing> -- currently (external-to-jumphost) seamonkey-clobberer.mozilla.org points to |sea-master1.community.scl3.mozilla.com [63.245.223.11]| * expected result ** on jumphost sea-master1 points to 63.245.223.98 ** external to jumphost seamonkey-clobberer.mozilla.org points to 63.245.223.98 ** on jumphost cb-seamonkey-linuxmaster-01 points to <nothing> ** all netflows flows that exist for 63.245.223.11 // cb-seamonkey-linuxmaster-01 remain in place for 63.245.223.98 // sea-master1 ** any flows that get severed be enumerated here or in e-mail to me for sanity check. 2) reimage sea-master1 63.245.223.98 -- this should be CentOS 6.2 x86_64, (cpu/ram should not change from existing allocation, which I think is currently 2cpu, but RAM unsure) -- Based on https://wiki.mozilla.org/ReleaseEngineering/PuppetAgain/Base_Images -- see me or :dustin for help with this if confused. -- if we have a MoCo-based VM of this, that would be ideal/easiest, just needing networking and passwords set manually after we create the initial image. 3) system to be halted and handed to :gcox for VMWare alignment before being handed to me. ------------- This setup is intended to replace the now dead parallels1.community and needed for SeaMonkey to be able to release our software. Urgency is low, since I won't be able to begin using this until at least June 1'st.

Ok, I just had a brief convo about this, and I think I may have totally confused myself a bit, since now, 5 minutes after hanging up my phone I don't know what I just asked for :(. Anyway, sea-master1 points at 63.245.223.11 in DNS, this is correct the *VM* of sea-master1 is currently setup to have IP 63.245.223.98 -- this is not correct. On reimage sea-master1 should be at 63.245.223.11 which is where all flows currently exist. cb-seamonkey-linuxmaster-01 [currently down] is actually at 63.245.223.11, while its DNS points to 63.245.223.98 -- this will not be coming back so the IP for the above (63.245.223.11) is actually free for the taking, and we'll retire the IP 63.245.223.98 from our use. ---- Hope that matches what I just discussed, if it doesn't hope this doesn't confuse more and actually helps.
(In reply to Justin Wood (:Callek) from comment #1) > ... and yes this contradicts c#0, but after sitting and thinking about it, and how flows/etc are setup, this is the right thing and c#0 was wrong, likely explains why c#0 was confusing.
Current VM information: Hostname: sea-master1.community.scl3.mozilla.com CPU: 1 RAM: 2G Disk: 50G Proposed NEW VM will be: Hostname: sea-master1.community.scl3.mozilla.com CPU: 1 RAM: 2G Disk: 40G Which fits under our standard VM deployment.
Looks good to me.
sea-master1.community.scl3.mozilla.com is online @ 63.245.223.11. Vanilla CentOS 6.2 x86_64 install done and VM is aligned. Do you still need the DNS changes to be done?
Forgot to add, previous vm renamed to: sea-master1.community.scl3.mozilla.com-Bug874015 Please let us know when we could delete it.
As per IRC, not DNS changes needed and previous VM deleted. Like Apu says; "Thank you, come again!"
