User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130512194354 Steps to reproduce: In the Account Settings Actual results: There is no Option to set up Bitmessages Expected results: Bitmessages should be supported by Thunderbird see: https://bitmessage.org/wiki/Main_Page
This should probably be implemented as an extensions for now.
Severity: normal → enhancement
Component: Untriaged → Message Compose Window
OS: Linux → All
Hardware: x86_64 → All
This would be an extremely useful feature (either as a plugin or built-in).
I'm confident about this new protocol. If it proves itself as safe, IMAP, POP and SMTP will be gone forever (and maybe SPAM too!). It is too good to be true! Lets read what the whitepapers tell about it. And invest on this protocol. I whould like to add one thing: it's not just a matter of implementing the protocol in the client, but also a matter of implementing the protocol in the domain! I want to receive updates from but reports in my BitMessage account! I want to log in to mozilla.org using my bitmessage address! Implementing bitmessage in websites will make bitmessage more popular, and more adopted.
Please do not comment with "+1" type comments, they do nothing to help move this forward. Bitmessage is still young, and I believe it needs some level of maturity before being included in Thunderbird core. The best way to move this forward would be: - Implement an add-on to Thunderbird supporting bitmessage types - Help drive bitmessage to be stable (it is still in beta according to its wiki page) and adoption
Severity: normal → S3
