Delete stops working after deleting a certain number of messages

Using build 2001062104 I delete mail either from the multi-message view or when the message is in a full window by clicking on the delete button. I can delete a certain number of mails but then can't delete at all. I click on the delete button and nothing happens. If I click on a different mail I can't delete that either. If I quit out of 6.1 and then relaunch I can then delete messages again.

another probable dup for your collection, Navin. Cindy, are you using POP or IMAP? If you click on another folder and back to the original folder, can you delete?

build id: 2001062606 win98 I used today's commercial trunk build and was able to delete messages. I deleted about 75 messages one after another from a stand alone message window. I also deleted about 2000 mssgs from a local folder. Navin, This is either a dup of bug 57950.

I'm using POP. Next time this happens I'll try to switch folders and back and see if that fixes it. My office is on the first floor of bldg 21, facing bldg 20. You can come by and look at my system if you wish. Or, maybe next time I experience this problem I can call someone to look at it?

This just happened to me again. I switched to another folder and back to my Inbox to delete the mail. I still couldn't delete after switching. Quit and Relaunch fixed it.

Cindy, Do you have preference "delete messages on the server when deleted locally" checked in server settings?

The preference "delete messages on the server when deleted locally" is unchecked. Note that I'm trying the 6/28 build today and haven't enountered the Delete problem today.

Note that I quit and relaunched. Upon relaunch it rebuilt my Inbox summary file. I think we saw this same behavior when you were in my office.

How about trying it from the menus/ delete from keyboard/ drag and drop to trash.

I'm also seeing this with Linux build 2001070908. I can't delete or even move messages out of my inbox unless I manually delete the .msf file, and the folder is rebuild upon restarting. I'm also fetching mail with POP3.

i am also seeing this with trunk build 2001071009 (x86/Linux/GCC2.95). was cleaning out my local folders today, deleted about 100 Bugzilla mails and all of a sudden, they won't delete any more. (branch build on the same date does *not* seem to be affected.) i'm using an IMAP mail server (and i can delete messages on the server fine).

I didn't see this for a few days. But, I'm using the July 20th build 2001072003 and encountered this today. Can't delete by any of these methods: - Delete Button in Mail - Menu Item - Delete Button on keyboard - dragging to trash

I've expired the same behavior but it appears after I've deleted only 1 file from my sent folder (pop3, win98, 2001071803)

I've been seeing this intermittently for a while on linux builds. My current is 2001072623.

I seem to be able to reproduce this by multiple clicking on the delete button. Attempting to click Delete again while it is depressed seems to be what triggers the loss of delete function.

cindy, i know this may be difficult, but if you could remember the steps that leads to delete not working, it might helps us to solve the problem. I have not yet hit this even once on my pop3 profile.

I believe this is a dup of a bug David has on his nsBranch+ list which he has in the trunk (as of this morning) and is waiting to land on the branch. nsbranch- for now until I can find David's bug to mark this a dup of.

scott, I don't think this is a dup. This is not about just delete button. Delete functionality stops working, no matter if you D&D, use menu etc. I haven't seen this and I have been using pop3 as my rpimary account for months now.

I am also sometimes unable to delete a message. The delete button is grayed out. And the context menu says "Delete Folder (N)" (but it's grayed) even though a message header is selected and it should say "Delete Message". Then, after a while, I can delete the message again. This is intermittent and I can't figure out steps to reproduce. I am using IMAP and I'm running Windows 2000.

which context menu says delete folder? message pane, thread pane, or folder pane? Or the toolbar edit menu? If the edit menu, this sounds to me like a case of the focus being on the folder pane, and having a special, non-deletable folder selected (like the imap inbox).

Marking this a dup of 57950. Naving, reopen if you don't think it is a dup. Sounds similar problem to me. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 57950 ***
