89252 - [RFE] Mozilla should show a page describing problems instead of an alert window

I'm not sure if this is a controversial issue or if I'm missing something, if
so, point me in the right direction.

Right now when youre surfing and you type an incorrect url or click an incorrect
link mozilla throws an alert window in your face. This is highly annoying if you
like to surf with several windows open at once (which I tend to do). This is
because if you open new windows and ask mozilla to load an URL then switch to
another to read something while that page is loading and a DNS error occurs it
means that moz will bring the window with the incorrect URL to the front along
with the alert, covering what you're reading (annoying!). 

I'd prefer to return to that window when I feel like it and see a page
describing what happened (like Internet Explorer does) and the erroneous URL
should be left in the URL bar so that typos can be easily corrected. 

Displaying a page has two other advantages:

1) You can give much more detailed information about what happened than "DNS
error" (good for unexperienced computer users)

2) If you have a networked install of Mozilla (on a company network for
instance), and the company DNS server goes down you can replace the default
error page temporarily with one saying "Corporate DNS server down, will be fixed
at 15.00"

The same applies for similar error messages. I tried to find a similar bug
report but couldn't.

So, in other words, you would like to see an error webpage like internet
explorer does instead of a windows
