Sometimes when returning from Windows' Hibernate state, Thunderbird gets stuck in Offline state (was online before into Hibernate state). This time after resuming I recognized a Windows balloon pop-up that the virtual network adapter "PdaNet Broadnet Connection" got disconnected (it is still shown as disconnected).

I have to manually switch to Online mode.

Maybe a solution: Check if all network adapters are offline, else stay online.

I have switched to TB24, but because this did fail only sometimes, I don't know yet if this also affects TB24.

Oddly enough, I had something similar symptom this morning - TB not getting nor receiving mail. process was different however.

I start with early yesterday morning because I did something unusual - I manually went offline because of server problems.

still offline, I sleeped PC and go to work. 
went back online about noon.
used thunderbird in afternoon.

5pm sleep again, took it home. used a bit in evening.
this morning, thunderbird was not sending nor receiving email. 
computer was idle overnight, but did not hibernate nor go to sleep in that period.

restart thunderbird (didn't think to try offline+online) and everything is OK.

That's a different bug, please file it as a new one. Thunderbird stopped checking for mail twice in the last year, but if I remember correct, manually checking did work, so that's a third king of bug.

This issue still exists in Thunderbird 24.0 beta 2 on Windows XP SP3.

Let's close this as worksforme, haven't seen the behavior described in this bug at least in the last 1.5 years.
