Steps to reproduce:

1.Put the device under a light.
2.Block the window of light sensor.

Actual results:

The button backlight will automatically adjusted to a lower brightness, same to screen backlight.

Expected results:

Can we control it as below:
1.If the light of enviroment become brighter, the button backlight will become lower.
2.If the light of enviroment become lower, the button backlight will become brighter.

If the light of enviroment is bright enough, the button backlight can be set 0, this can save power.

Please help to check, thanks!

Gaia has no control to button backlight. I guess this should be fixed in Gecko?

Hi Fred,

Do you have any suggestion in this bug?
I think we may not combine button and backlight in same criteria.
Thank you.

I think backlight and LED might have connection in lower level (even hard-wired). So its up to device vendor to tune that behaviour.

Per our API design, the button backlight is coupled with screen backlight, so they share the same scenario: in a darker environment, the screen/button light will be lower, and vice versa.
UX team, can you provide your opinion here? do we want button backlight works as bug description?

Flagging Eric as I'm not sure who is best to take this. Eric, please feel free to reassign as necessary, but this felt more VxD than IxD.

add a control as below:
if we do not operate the phone, the button backlight dose not light .
Josh, maybe you can help moving this along?
It does make sense that

For the screen
- brighter as ambient gets brighter and vice versa

for the home key backlight
- dimmer as ambient gets brighter (because you have the printed button)

Hi Evelyn, sorry I only saw this now. I agree with your opinion of the light becoming dimmer when it's brighter. I think it should work similarly to auto brightness. Where the screen gets brighter when there's more light around (for visibility). When the ambient light is lower it makes sense for the back light to dim as well since it should be easier to see the screen. Josh, what do you think?

Before going to implementation detail, I believe you may want to know how UX guy think of this design. Eric can provide UX advice, not Gecko implementation.
hi,Eric can give some advice.

thanks

Hi Lecky, sorry I don't think I've the correct person to provide information on this (I'm part of the visual design team). Stephany, can you help point Lecky in the right direction? Thanks!

can you help me.If you see the message, please reply as soon as possible.

We currently do not have the ability to control screen and key backlights independently.

A bug has been filed to decouple the controls.

Adding to device backlog.

This is a feature request and will not be included on v1.1.

Please re-flag me if anything else is needed here from the UX side. Please flag Product if there's a question of whether or not this feature should/will be included in the 1.4 backlog.
