User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130814063812 Steps to reproduce: I googled the ppa for thunderbird and I found this on askubuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/50931/how-do-i-install-the-latest-stable-version-of-thunderbird I also found the same instruction on https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/installing-thunderbird-linux (scroll down to the middle of the page) The PPA is broken Actual results: What actually happened? On the console: yeukhon@yeukhon-P5E-VM-DO:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-stable [sudo] password for yeukhon: Cannot access PPA (https://launchpad.net/api/1.0/~mozillateam/+archive/thunderbird-stable) to get PPA information, please check your internet connection. Expected results: It should have allowed me to add the PPA. The PPA link is gone. I don't think we really need this PPA anymore because doing sudo apt-get install thunderbird you can already install the latest release.
Hardware: x86 → All
Solution is to remove the instruction from our official website. See my revision https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/installing-thunderbird-linux/history#preview
could we edit the article to include the PPA for the beta version... I was all set to approve the changes, but it would be really good to see more Linus users in the ?Beta channel. We might stamp on more Linux only bugs if there were more on Linux beta. PPA is here https://launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/thunderbird-next
Ah I just saw this in my queue. I am closing this because the revision has been accepted. Future revision as Matt suggested will be done separately.
