Just filing this to see what sort of interest I get...
Sheesh, nicely put. I read the short descrip and immediately thought: "People
use that?"
For the hell of it, putting Platform/OS -> All.
OS: Windows 95 → All
Hardware: PC → All

Nobody used that crap in NS. When i installed it the first thing i did was to
turn it off! There is a reason the browser has icons in the status bar below,
you know...

I used the floating component bar. Once. Last August. You see, I was hovering
over a link with a really long URL that I needed to see, so I enabled the
floating component bar temporarily to give me more space for text in the status
bar. The rest of the time I hate it though. It should never be brought back. Ever.
I hate this feature too, but I've had at least one report from a user that they
were **** when Netscape 6.1 didn't have that feature. I can't imagine why.

Well, I like being able to open a browser window on whatever desktop I am on
without having to reload Mozilla or switching to a desktop in order to find an
existing window and then opening a new window and moving it back to the desktop
I want to be working on.
This way I can have the various projects with their own Mozilla window at all
times.
The real trick here is that Mozilla starts too slowly. If it would start at the
same speed as clicking on the floating tool bar to open a new window then there
would be no need for this feature as I could then use my own tool bar from
whatever Window Manager I wish to use.
Ahh well, I guess there is no reason to make this a feature you can use. After
all, you all don't want to use it and heaven forbid that there is a feature that
you don't use built into Mozilla.

I *do* want it. I kept using Communicator until now, just because the floating
component bar. The component bar is not only shortcuts to start the components,
but also a New Mail warning for me. So it's very useful.
