User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/6.0; SlimBrowser/7.00.057) Steps to reproduce: > Double-click to open a message. > Delete a message. Actual results: Takes a long long time to open or delete. Basically all commands take forever to perform. Expected results: It should perform as previous version. Please advise whtehr I can roll-back to the previous version?

However a) you tell us nothing about your environment (pop, imap, antivirus software, etc) b) you haven't indicated you tested safe mode - https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/safe-mode - before reporting Without that information, best guess is your problem is caused by AV software - like https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#McAfee Which AV software do you use?

Tested in safe mode before reporting but problem persists. McAfee AV. I read your link but disabling McAfee plug-in/scan seems reckless, no? I've written to McAfee, pending reply.

Given the history of McAfee, going to assume this is not a Thunderbird until proven otherwise.

Ben, I have updated https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#McAfee with quotes from McAfee support. It should give you confidence to try the steps listed. Can you give us feedback after doing these steps?

Hi Wayne, Thanks for yr follow up. 1) Disable McAfee Extension. Btw, it's listed under Plug-Ins (not Extensions) > DONE (Security Centre and Site Advisor). 2) Disable email attachment option > DONE 3) Disable scanning... > NOT DONE (couldn't find systray). 4) Write to McAfee > DONE (but no reply, useless buggers!) Now TB performs much 'lighter' :) Tks

Ben, McAfee has a potential fix out, released last week. You'll be able to tell if you have it because it's labelled in the About box as "Engine version: 1688.0". Can you try it, with #1 and/or #2 enabled and tell us your results?
