Since late last week, I cannot start Firefox. The stable release works, but the nightly SEGSIGV on startup. I tried both safe mode and moving ~/.mozilla. I also re-downloaded a fresh build, same result (so this is not an automatic update corruption). Thunderbird (system packages) also works. How to reproduce: Open firefox Happen: Always Affect all systems: No, of course not, someone would have noticed. Other details: I have made no system updates since mid september, so a system update did not cause this issue. Looking at the comments and google search, there seem to be quite a lot of comments with bugs containing (process:15063): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size == 0' failed In the last few days. My guts say it is not an accident. They all seem to have 64bit Linux systems, mostly Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu and Mint. Some have compiled from source, some use binary packages. So it look like many peoples are affected, but confuse the issue with older ones based on the terminal output alone. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=833117 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=672671 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1160569 There is no smoke without fire. Upstream changes are obviously not the problem here, it firefox borke. Earlier builds worked, newers don't, it is as simple as that.

(Could be layout or gfx, trying layout)
valgrind output seems likely to be useful
The valgrind output doesn't seem very helpful. Is there a binary build compatible with valgind arround?

I get zsh: illegal hardware instruction ./firefox/firefox
> Since late last week, I cannot start Firefox. The stable release works... Can you pin-point the exact build when the problem started? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2013/10/ (use the ones ending in -mozilla-central, and don't use your regular profile when testing this to avoid corrupting it) Regarding this: (process:15063): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size == 0' failed I see that every time I start Firefox, for several years, so that seems unlikely to be related to the problem.

Hello, sorry for the delay. Fall being fall, I am sad (ok, furious) that a wind storm caused a power surge, killing my powerbar, main hard drive and GPU (an old 8400GS, not a great loss). I ordered the new parts, but I don't plan get them this week (15 days delivery). Worst, it happened *while* I was testing the nightlies. What I can say for now is that most of the old -mozilla-central nightlies work. Maybe my GPU was about to give up anyway, but I don't think so. First, because the old nightlies work and then because of all the noise about firefox crashing occuring at the same time as it started to happen to me. I know the sound suspicious, but it is true. I cannot reproduce the issue on my laptop (MacBook Pro Retina Ivy Bridge). I will update when I get the new hardware.

Does the crash still occur?
