Just filing a bug to get some discussion on this. I feel like having clipboard and zoom buttons at the top of the menu is giving too much prominence to a no-so-relevant set of actions. The visual style of these buttons (i.e. they don't the same flat style than the other buttons) make them stand out even more.

A couple of possible solutions:
- Make the style of these buttons a little less different than the others. Maybe flatten them a bit and make their color a bit less contrasty?
- Move them down to the bottom of the menu?

I apologize if this was discussed before. In any case, I'm curious about the rationale behind the current default layout.

Lucas, thanks for filing this; you make a fair point!

I'm currently working on bug 878065, which'll make the edit and zoom controls less of an eye-catcher. The end result will look more or less like http://people.mozilla.org/~shorlander/mockups-interactive/australis-interactive-mockups/windows8.html (depending on your OS, of course).

I'm inclined to duplicate this bug to bug 878065, what do you think?

That looks much better indeed :-)

The other aspect of this bug was about the position of the zoom and clipboard widgets in the menu. If keeping them at the top is a set-in-stone design decision at this point, feel free to duplicate it.

Alright, I'm going to dupe this then. If you want to talk about the rationales, posting to firefox-dev or asking in #ux on IRC is probably a better approach.
