Two reasons to remove the text:

1) When the plugs are connected, the word "Work Offline" is misleading.  It
actually means that clicking the icon once will make the browser work offline. 
On the other hand, when the plugs are disconnected, the word "Work Online" is
misleading again.  It actually means that clicking the icon once will make the
browser work online.

2) It's wasting the precious space on screen.
