From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0) BuildID: 2001062815 Hi guys, In NS4.7 there was a message right click item to "add sender to address book" and "add all to address book". There doesn't seem to be any such thing in Mozilla yet. My usage of it is to select a (large) set of messages and add all the senders to a mailing list e.g. users of some piece of software I have... BTW The version in NS 4.7 was not very useful for large numbers of users: 1- it did not detect duplicates 2- it prompted with a card for every name I had a look in Bugzilla, see nothing obviously relating to this. I guess you could call it an enhancement, but it was there in NS4.7... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select one or more mails 2. Right click 3. Actual Results: No "add sender to address book" option available Expected Results: "add sender to address book" option
Are you filing a feature bug? I think this bug is not warrant because when you select a message, the sender of the message will be automatically added to the Collected Address Book. What do you think? Candice.

I received a mail from Candace but my reply bounced in a big way... The suggestion was that since users from a viewed mail, are auto collected, that there was no need for this feature. That's kind of true, but it's very slow if you have a lot of mail. Supposing I have a mail folder with 500 mails from users of some piece of software. Instead of reading each one of them, I could just select them all and right click 'add sender to address book'. It would be useful if I could pick a particular folder to put them in. I have this situation right now, in fact :)

While this feature my not be "need" it would be extremely convenient. Being able to select a number of messages and adding all of the addresses to a _specific_ AB would be a great time saver. I personally turn of address collection because I do not need to collect from the various lists I'm subscribed to. However, there are times when I have to resort to opening a number of messages individually, clicking the address of the sender, then select Add to Address book.

The Main Mail spec (http://mozilla.org/mailnews/specs/threepane/MailMenus.html) shows a Message|Add All to Address Book menu item but it does not appear that this feature has been implemented. I also think it would be a convenient feature.

jen, In the 3pane Mail spec under the Message menu it shows an "Add All to Address Book" menu item. I know that it was intended to work on one message but what happens when multiple messages are selected? I think it would be a nice feature so that it would add all addresses for the selected messages. Changing summary from "Add addresses from selected mail(s) to address book" to "Select multiple messages and add all addresses to a _specific_ AB"
Summary: Add addresses from selected mail(s) to address book → Select multiple messages and add all addresses to a _specific_ AB
The Add Sender to AB and Add All to AB menu items were originally planned but sorta feel off when we got the Collected AB feature. If there is a consensus that this is still a desireable feature, it could be added.

Very useful for allowing a new user to pick up a lot of email addresses quickly and easily. Should also work for email addresses in a message body. E.g. new user gets sent a list of addresses. Should be able to select them all to go into address boo in one go. Later they can be edited to fill in more detail if necessary. This sort of thing could have saved me trouble with a new email user several times in the past. (I did not find it in outlook express -- though I am not really familiar with that, as I personally only use linux/unix). I suspect this is a feature many people would find useful if they had it, but would not realise in advance that they need it. (Like many good UK features.) Aaron A.Sloman@cs.bham.ac.uk

Apologies for typos in last comment. "good UK features" was meant to be " good UK features"

I would also find this very useful: in my case I have one message sent to 30+ people; I want to add all these to my address book. Filtering them out from the hundreds of addresses in Collected Addresses would be almost as time-consuming as typing them all manually :-(
