User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20131030131730 Steps to reproduce: Disabled all addons. Opened new compose window. Entered address. Typed in message area. After an undetermined length of time, the cursor disappears and all keyboard activity affects the main screen in the background. Tried with and without addons. Tried as reply or new message. Tried wireless keyboard and PS/2 keyboard. No differences. Actual results: No cursor, so can't type or edit compose window. Expected results: Should never lose the cursor. Foreground window should always be active.
Just found out that if one grabs the title bar of the compose windows and drags is around a little, the cursor comes back and one can continue editing. Should add that the bad behavior just pops up at any time during typing, and that things are being affected in the background with each keystroke. In other words, the keyboard is still active and the inputs just shift to the background window.
Still doing it often. Restarting program seems to have no effect on the problem. Since it takes some time to start, it is hard to tell if the problem has anything to do with the add-ons. When starting without the add-ons enabled, the program font sizes and layout becomes almost unusable, making it difficult to use it normally or for any length of time.
I sure hope someone can fix this problem. I wonder if it is only on Fedora.

seems similar enough to bug 942610 I don't see this being related to bug 994662 and it's ilk because those are presumably a result of a later regression of newer issue bug 933483
