User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131119030202

Steps to reproduce:

1: right-click toolbar
2: choose 'customize'
3: chose from 'tool tip' that appears, 'Customize'

Actual results:

1: window turns black
2: in 'tool tip' menu containing 'Help Customize Quit'
2a: 'Help' does nothing
2b: 'Customize' does Nothing
2c: 'Quit' does not 'quit' 'customize', but Quits FF
3: Quit FF
4: Start FF
5: Black 'Customize' window remains and there is NO way to get rid of it.

Expected results:

FF should look like it did 2 days ago!!!!!
mozilla should be working on how much mem and cpu FF uses and it's inability to handle media and not rearranging the UI.
this is what I get when I right-click on toolbar.
'Help' does Nothing
'Customize' does Nothing
'Quit' does not quit 'Customize' , but Quits FF
This window, function can not be closed
right-click toolbar > Customize
I get this screen
Quit FF
Start FF
This screen persists on Session Restore...
Can NOT get rid of it...
Wow, that sucks. Sorry about the terrible experience.

Are there any errors in the browser console? (ctrl-shift-j to open that)
Can you reproduce this in safe mode or on a new profile?

Note that you can probably get out of the broken state by middle-clicking or otherwise closing the "Customize" tab in the tabstrip.

I've over written 19.11.13 Nightly with 17.11.13, but I can re-update to 19.11.13

There is NO way out of this black screen.
I've right, left, middle clicked Everything. I've used keyboard, key combinations.
I've tried enabling, disabling toolbars, Closing Tabs, adding tabs, etc.. Nothing.
As I said, I've even Quit FF and Started fresh and the Black window remains. Other Windows from same session are 'normal' except they do NOT have FF button when menu bar is disabled. (This I HATE) I've grown very fond of button.
I downloaded 17.11.13 Nightly (central) and the Black window toolbars adjusted when the 'download indicator' activated (showed my hidden navbar)

I will re-update Nightly now and let you know what error console says.

Landis.
OK, I've re-updated to 19.11.13 build.
Missing FireFox Button... Why? Don't like it.

I'm going to:

1: Right-Click menubar > customize

2: I will then try the Ctrl+Shift+J (console) and copy any output to you.

3: when I Quit FF from this, I'm restarting with Aurora installation, but will leave Nightly at current version for now, if you need more information.

ps, I do NOT like the absences of FF button !!

Landis.
Error Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) output after Right-Click > Customize (toolbar)
Before I did anything else, ie, click 'Help', 'Customize', middle-click etc.
Error Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) output after Right-Click > Customize (toolbar)
While I was trying, click 'Help', 'Customize', middle-click etc.
Error Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) output after Right-Click > Customize (toolbar)
After, but before i Quit, Ctrl+W, NewTab, Menu > Help > Troubleshooting does not show, but I can see the tab load. Black 'window' remains.

Quit and started Aurora. Nightly rel 19.11.13 still installed with same profile if you need more information.

fyi: opneSuSE Linux 12.3 and KDE 4.11.x All Updates, Everyday just like FF Nightly.

Is this the same issue?

No, it's not.

14:21:43.812 TypeError: browserElement is null overlay.js:7615

This is likely part of the problem. Can you copy the link location of that file so we know what add-on is causing this error?

Generally, you seem to have a lot of add-ons installed. It's almost certain they're what's causing the weirdness here, but I don't know which of them (or which combination of them) is breaking stuff.

It'd be good to know if this problem occurs in safe mode (with extensions disabled), and if it doesn't, if you could isolate which of the add-ons cause this problem by slowly re-enabling some of them until the problem starts reoccurring.
how do i find what 'add-on' you are talking about?
I've found the line in the first (*-01.txt) file i sent you, but how do I know what 'add-on' is calling this?
I could grep or use kfind to search all the files for the text string 7615?

mean time, i will run Nightly rel 19.11.13 with basic profile and in safe mode.

help!

I mean in the browser console that you opened, the file name should be a link that you can click, and it'll open a view source window with the file, and you can see the URL in there.
running a bear bones (stock) profile, the 'customize tab' appears. It's not really a tab, as it resizes the window, but you know that. So, it probably my 'Theme' FT DeepDark and not a Add-on... maybe My 'Hide Bookmarks Toolbar' addon or 'Hide GUI Bars' or 'Hide Tabbar'... Almost anything that manipulates the look of the chrome, xul ui, eh...

The 'new' UI is GROSS! It looks like something that Might appeal to a kindergartener.

I don't know who thinks that 'Tabs on Top' is a good idea.
I've read mozilla 'studies' about it and I TOTALLY DISAGREE.

Tabs Should be On the 'top' of the Page, Not the window.
Tabs are the pages I'm looking at and switching between them should NOT involve the navbar, bookmarks bar or any other toolbar i have...

If this is the 'new look' of FF, I Will be Leaving! There is still Opera.

Sorry for the rant, but ...
The very nature of FF is it's for the people, by the people and it's customizability by the 'User', Not a few people with No common sense Dicktating what mozilla Firefox looks like. This is a Huge issue to me. This has Never been put up for a vote of the users. I know it has not, because I'm on my system 20 hours a day and firefox is open 24x7 on a number of my systems. I've Never been Asked! And, there is No place to go and 'vote' or where my opinion is sought. Why? Feed back (input.mozilla.org), like the 'help' site is useless. I know no one looks at them....

Is this the future of Firefox? This Ugly, sissy, 'my little pony' looking UI. Really?

OK, I remember seeing those 'links'

I' restart Nightly now and let you know.
Landis.
I can't help you, help me.

After 6 or 7 restarts, FF has now decided that my FT DeepDark Theme is incompatible and disabled it.

So, I can't duplicate the error. Don't know why it took 7 times to finally check..

Using 'my profile', FF looks totally different than my 'stock' profile. Why?

There is still No FF Button. How do we navigate without it? Enable Menu bar?
That is going backwards, not an improvement. That Takes Away real estate and that is a Negative.

So, the issue was, is my theme FT DeepDark (a very well written theme)

After 20+ years of my using and supporting Mosaic, Netscape, Mozilla and eventually Firefox. I will NOT be using Firefox from today forward if this is the direction (backwards) of the UI.

Gijs K, Thank you for your time.
Landis.

p.s. This is a Major Change and is Not reflected in the versioning, a 'standard' which mozilla seems, not to have been using since it's jump from 4 to 13 or something like that.
