Instead of a separate history window, the conversation could just continually scrollback in history as you scroll "up". This would probably need some UI to jump to particular dates or something though.

For some protocols (e.g. Matrix) we might need to figure out if we're pulling messages from logs or over the network while scrolling.

The other open issue for me is how we handle it for logging. Do we just ignore scrolling back, since logs are append toward the future only?
