I am told that the person fielding email for privacy@mozilla.com (Alina?) is getting a great deal of spam. Does this address have spam control? Can we up the aggressiveness of the spam controls in some way? Gerv

Hi Gerv - Looks like privacy@mozilla.com is already in Postini with aggressive spam filters set. I'll work with Alina to figure out what's going on.
I'm not even sure how she is getting emails to privacy@mozilla.com since that mailbox forward to nothing
Hi all - I'm not receiving email to the privacy@ address. I believe Alex is though. Who is the owner, or who set up this alias? -Alina
Hi All - It looks like privacy@mozilla.com is a mailbox with an OOTO set to with the following reply below. No one has access to it, no emails that are sent to privacy@mozilla.com are forwarded to anyone. It's kind of just a murky bowl of old unread email and currently has 27776 unread messages. Can we give someone from the privacy team access to this account to manage it? Or can I delete everything older than 30 days from the mailbox? As for the original problem mentioned in this bug - it does not look like there's any way this mailbox can be attributing spam to anyone as it's not going anywhere. But if Alex is having junk mail issues - I can certainly help him with that. Hi, Thank you for your email. If you are enquiring about or commenting on matters of copyright infringement, trademarks, privacy or other legal issues, we will get back to you as soon as we can. If you have contacted us about something else, however, the people who receive your email will most likely not have the expertise to help you, and will probably not reply. We can't answer technical support or web development questions or field enhancement requests or bug reports by email. As you will understand, with hundreds of millions of users of our software this just isn't possible. Not to worry though, Mozilla offers plenty of support resources on the web. Here are some links which may be useful to you. * http://support.mozilla.com/ Support resources for Firefox * http://www.mozilla.org/support/ Support resources for all Mozilla products * http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi Report a bug in a Mozilla product * http://feedback.mozilla.org/ Leave quick feedback about a Mozilla product * http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/about/contact.html Additional information about how to contact us on a range of topics Again, if you have contacted us on a legal matter, we hope to reply soon. Added Liz to this bug as the auto-reply signature is coming from the Legal team. Liz / Alex - Are you okay with purging email except for those received in the last 30 days? Liz - Has anyone from the legal team been monitoring this for the "matters of copyright infringement, trademarks, privacy or other legal issues" that may be sent to this alias?
I get emails sent to trademarks@mozilla.com, dmcanotice@mozilla.com, and legal-notices@mozilla.com. Before Alex got here I used to get privacy@mozilla.com, but haven't for maybe 3 years. I thought it went to someone on the privacy team. That auto-reply is used for the 3 aliases I get, and probably was just used for privacy@ too for convenience. Jishnu and Mika are working on a better solution for providing a way for people to contact us about privacy concerns, so this email address will probably go away before long. Jen - Jishnu asked that you keep the emails that have gone to that address for now. If you have any suggestions as to an automatic way to try to remove most of the spam so someone could review any legitimate emails that have gone to the address, that would be very helpful.
Alex told me _someone_ was getting this email - I thought it was Alina. Alex? It is somewhat embarrassing for an organization which is the winner of a major privacy award to have the main point of contact for privacy issues go into a black hole. We should fix this pretty darn quickly. I'm sure we could run some spam filters of increasing aggressiveness over the existing mailbox to try and pull out mails of interest. Even if we don't get them all, it's better than deleting the lot. Gerv
Shared out the Privacy inbox with Alina, Alex and Jishnu. I put a couple filters in there so that anything from Privacy Hub moved to one folder. Any delivery reports from Postini went to another folder. Things with the word Firefox were moved to another folder. It doesn't look like anyone has been manaing this since 2011. Alina, Alex and Jishnu - you'll need to accept the share in Zimbra WebUI - and then you can view all the items in the inbox. A lot of it looks like junk mail.
