Sorry if this is the wrong component. Overview: When attempting to send an email on MacOS_X, the app crashes. I've checked sending with ssl turned on and turned off: - With ssl enabled, it crashes right after the activity indicator dialogue appears - With ssl disabled, it seems to be crashing right after the password dialogue appears Platforms/Builds tested: Marking VERIFIED FIXED on: - MacOS91 2001-08-21-04-trunk (commercial) - MacOS_X 2001-08-21-05-trunk (commercial) - LinRH62 2001-08-21-06-trunk (commercial) - Win98SE 2001-08-21-11-trunk (commercial) This only happens on MacOS_X, and is blocking verification of other bugs. Stack Trace (from crash.log): ********** Date/Time: 2001-08-22 07:01:34 -0700 PID: 324 Command: Netscape 6 Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000 Thread 0: #0 0x0258292c in FormatTMTime__19nsDateTimeFormatMacFP9nsILocaleiiPCQ23std2tmR8 () #1 0x02582868 in FormatTMTime__19nsDateTimeFormatMacFP9nsILocaleiiPCQ23std2tmR8 () #2 0x02582d34 in FormatPRExplodedTime__19nsDateTimeFormatMacFP9nsILocaleiiPC14P () #3 0x02720544 in GetNotBeforeLocalTime__18nsX509CertValidityFPPw () #4 0x00187b28 in _XPTC_InvokeByIndex () #5 0x00187a20 in XPTC_InvokeByIndex () #6 0x0018f79c in EventHandler__FP7PLEvent () #7 0x001b9c00 in PL_HandleEvent () #8 0x001b9a7c in PL_ProcessPendingEvents () #9 0x00161f54 in ProcessPendingEvents__16nsEventQueueImplFv () #10 0x02014b28 in ProcessPLEventQueue__26nsMacNSPREventQueueHandlerFv () #11 0x020148ec in RepeatAction__26nsMacNSPREventQueueHandlerFRC11EventRecord () #12 0x0203d1a8 in DoRepeaters__8RepeaterFRC11EventRecord () #13 0x02028cfc in DispatchEvent__16nsMacMessagePumpFiP11EventRecord () #14 0x0202861c in DoMessagePump__16nsMacMessagePumpFv () #15 0x02027eac in Run__10nsAppShellFv () #16 0x01dd413c in Run__17nsAppShellServiceFv () #17 0x00094f28 in main1__FiPPcP11nsISupport () #18 0x00095ca8 in main () Thread 1: #0 0x7000442c in _syscall () #1 0x70658478 in _ProcessReadyEvent () #2 0x70658270 in _CarbonSelectThreadFunc () #3 0x700150e4 in __pthread_body () Thread 2: #0 0x70059d58 in _semaphore_wait_signal_trap () #1 0x700162f0 in _semaphore_wait_signal () #2 0x70016158 in __pthread_cond_wait () #3 0x70015ef8 in _pthread_cond_wait () #4 0x70653b80 in _BSD_pthread_cond_wait () #5 0x70653b60 in _CarbonConditionWait () #6 0x7065552c in _CarbonOperationThreadFunc () #7 0x700150e4 in __pthread_body () Thread 3: #0 0x70059d38 in _semaphore_timedwait_signal_trap () #1 0x7003f9e8 in _semaphore_timedwait_signal () #2 0x70016148 in __pthread_cond_wait () #3 0x7003f9b4 in _pthread_cond_timedwait_relative_np () #4 0x7029b8b4 in _TSWaitOnConditionTimedRelative () #5 0x7029d0d0 in _TSWaitOnSemaphoreCommon () #6 0x702e62a4 in _TSWaitOnSemaphoreRelative () #7 0x702e7514 in _TimerThread () #8 0x700150e4 in __pthread_body () Thread 4: #0 0x70059d58 in _semaphore_wait_signal_trap () #1 0x700162f0 in _semaphore_wait_signal () #2 0x70016158 in __pthread_cond_wait () #3 0x70015ef8 in _pthread_cond_wait () #4 0x7029b874 in _TSWaitOnCondition () #5 0x7029d0b8 in _TSWaitOnSemaphoreCommon () #6 0x7029d008 in _TSWaitOnSemaphore () #7 0x7029cecc in _AsyncFileThread () #8 0x700150e4 in __pthread_body () Thread 5: #0 0x70059d58 in _semaphore_wait_signal_trap () #1 0x700162f0 in _semaphore_wait_signal () #2 0x70016158 in __pthread_cond_wait () #3 0x70015ef8 in _pthread_cond_wait () #4 0x70653b80 in _BSD_pthread_cond_wait () #5 0x70653b60 in _CarbonConditionWait () #6 0x70653a54 in _CarbonInetOperThreadFunc () #7 0x700150e4 in __pthread_body () Thread 6: #0 0x70000998 in _mach_msg_overwrite_trap () #1 0x700058c4 in _mach_msg_overwrite () #2 0x700279a0 in _thread_suspend () #3 0x70027934 in __pthread_become_available () #4 0x70027658 in _pthread_exit () #5 0x700150e8 in __pthread_body () PPC Thread State: srr0: 0x0258292c srr1: 0x0000f030 vrsave: 0x00000000 xer: 0x00000008 lr: 0x025828cc ctr: 0x702b1fec mq: 0x00000000 r0: 0x00000000 r1: 0xbfffe6f8 r2: 0x020fc6e0 r3: 0x00000000 r4: 0xbfffeb44 r5: 0x00000002 r6: 0x002d2961 r7: 0x00000019 r8: 0x000007d1 r9: 0xb7a7db13 r10: 0x00008b4e r11: 0xb7a75500 r12: 0x80262ce8 r13: 0x00000000 r14: 0x00000000 r15: 0x00000000 r16: 0x00000000 r17: 0x00000000 r18: 0x00000000 r19: 0x002c7160 r20: 0x00000000 r21: 0x002c72f4 r22: 0x051a4960 r23: 0x00000002 r24: 0x00000003 r25: 0xbfffedc0 r26: 0xbfffee88 r27: 0x00000000 r28: 0x00000000 r29: 0x00000000 r30: 0xbfffee60 r31: 0x0258a334 **********

over to I18N. Looks like we crash on OSX when we try to format a date & time in: nsDateTimeFormatMacFP9nsILocaleii

I tried it on MacOS X English and Japanese systems on a G4 machine. It didn't crash when sending out mails either with SSL or w/o SSL. Will try it on a iMac machine.
It didn't crash either on an iMac machine. I'm using 0822 trunk build with a new profile.

Nope. Still crashes for me with a new profile, but it didn't crash until I'd gotten to the last item on this list: 1) No SSL, No Personal Cert, Select Automatically, Username defaulted to 'null' 2) No SSL, No Personal Cert, Ask Everytime, Username defaulted to 'null' 3) No SSL, Personal Cert installed, Ask Everytime, Username defaulted to 'null' 4) SSL enabled, Personal Cert installed, Ask Everytime, Username defaulted to 'null' And now it seems to crash all the time. In fact, I can't get at the mailnews prefs because everytime it starts the mailnews window, it crashes.
One is 10.0.4 (Build 4Q12) 256 MB RAM, Power PC G4 and the other one is Build 4K78 128 MB RAM, Power PC G3 I don't crash on either of them.
I started up Mac OS X from class environment in Mac 0S 9.1, but don't know if it makes difference or not.

Wait a minute - are you running the OS9 bits in the Classic 9.1 environment on OS X? The crash I'm seeing is happening for Fizzilla/native bits running in OS X....
Comment 11•23 years ago
|
||
No, I'm not running OS9 bits on OS X system. I'm running the bits under ftp://sweetlou/products/client/seamonkey/macos/10.x/ppc/
