* Had an account on the older / deprecated Sync system * Unlinked existing devices from old system * Created a new Firefox account * Verified my email address * Sync preferences always says "Please sign in to reconnect <EMAIL>" * I am able to sign in successfully, but the preferences dialog never changes to reflect this

Restarting Firefox presenting me with a modal prompt to choose what to sync and a "Start" button. However, even after clicking "Start", Sync prefs still says "Please sign in to reconnect".
I managed to reproduce this bug only after setting up the Firefox Account on a android device. Looks like if there is an android device in sync with the account I can not connect the account on desktop.
Dupe of bug 967313? I suppose comment 1 suggests not.
My account now connects successfully on desktop Firefox. Not sure what changed, since an initial restart didn't make that happen. I've been updating nightlies as usual on both desktop and Android, so perhaps something was fixed there, or it just takes a while to properly show up as "connected"? I'd be tempted to dupe this I suppose, but then comment 2 mentions someone can reproduce it, so not sure what their status is.

I suspect this was caused by a time-skew problem on the back-end - you could successfully log in, but fetching a token intermittently failed causing this "please sign in to reconnect" problem. This was resolved by the services team late last week.
I suspect time-skew footgun issues as well. We're going to make this even better over the next couple of weeks. I'm not going to close this, but I'm removing it from Fx29.

Are you still able to reproduce this? I suspect the dance with the android device was just a coincidence. Also, we've just landed better logging that should give us more of a clue when it does happen. If it can't be reproduced, I think we should close this.
