Details
Build: 2001082104, Mac OS 9.1
To reproduce:
1. Go to http://validator.w3.org/file-upload.html.
2. Attach a large HTML file, such as a saved copy of <http://slashdot.org/>.
3. Click `Validate this document'.
4. Watch the status bar.
What you see:
* The text `Connected to validator.w3.org'.
* An indeterminate progress indicator as the file is uploaded.
What you should see:
* Text of the form `36 K of 105 K sent (4.7 K/second), 17 seconds
remaining ...' (compare bug 88982 -- the only difference is `read' vs.
`sent')
* A determinate progress indicator showing how much of the file has been
uploaded.
Rationale:
* This is a semi-frequent problem at the cafe; someone attaches a large
picture to a Hotmail message (not realizing that it's really large), and
then thinks MSIE has hung when it takes so long to continue.
* By showing more determinate progress, we don't make Mozilla perform any
faster, but we make it *look* as if it's performing faster.
