I think that the main menu should be accessable with the ontouch callback rather than the onclick callback. That way I could touch the menu, slide my finger over what I want to do, then release to initiate the action via the ACTION_UP action. If you need a reference design, this is how right click works in Ubuntu and its wonderful.

I think that this is nice because it minimizes the number of clicks users have to make. Personally I find myself refreshing regularly and I find the number of clicks more annoying than the button location in this process.

You might consider similar behavior with the Tab menu.

Thanks
This goes against platform consistency gMail/G+ menu buttons don't show until finger up.
Gmail 4.7.2 (and other Google Apps) allow you touch the menu and swip down to your option. The menu only shows up once you initiate movement toward where the menu will be.
Doesn't work in: G+
Works in: Chrome, gMail, Docs, YouTube
Forgot they added that in 4.4.
