Details

(Whiteboard: [Australis:P4])

The Australis save button is labelled "Save Page" even when a page is not loaded. This can be misleading, or even actively confusing, when another type of content (like an image) is loaded. By using the more generic label "Save" the button would be more accurate (and presumably, more understandable) for other types of content.
Changing it to "Save" could also add confusion if people think it means saving their session (i.e. open windows and tabs) because "Save" is more ambiguous. When a user is looking at an image directly, do they even understand that it's not a web "page" and just an image? It seems a bit more confusing for things like video which aren't static. This isn't really a new issue with the Australis button as the same applies to the file menu's "Save Page As…" which is covered in bug 335167 and awaiting UX input.

It's been "Save Page As…" in the menu for many years without any apparent confusion. I don't think we need to worry about it. Nor is the technical distinction between a HTML document and an image really useful.
