I do not store my POP3 password in TB. So I am asked to type in POP3 password to download e-mail to retrieve messages from my POP3 mail server. Also, I do not retrieve e-mails automatically. But I hit [Get Messages] button manually to fetch POP3 e-mails. (I am using TB in Japanese locale, and so I may refer to the button menus incorrectly.) After hitting [Get Messages] button, if I type in an incorrect password to the password prompt, the following happens. It is as if re-trying of login with the correct password DOES NOT happen until a timeout caused by the initial login with incorrect password expires. or something like that. I think this is a buggy behavior. What happens. 0. I type in an incorrect password to the password prompt after hitting [Get Message] button. 1. A popup dialog appears stating that the password could not be sent. (There is a message about connecting to a mail server in the lower-left corner of the window pane of TB.) 2. I choose to re-type password from the popup, and this time type in the correct password. 3. However, nothing happens immediately (even if I hit [Get Message] button] immediately. (all the while, this message about "connecting" to a mail server was shown in the lower-left corner of the window pane of TB). I found a work-around, but this is not what is should be: 4. But then, if I choose [File] -> [Offline] and go on offline (without downloading the messages), then go back online again ([FILE]->[Offline]: unmarking offline), and THEN hit [Get Messages] again, this time login with correct password is tried and succeeds, and I see messages downloaded from POP3 server. What I expected to see: 0. I type in an incorrect password to the password prompt after hitting [Get Message] button. 1. A popup dialog appears stating that the password could not be sent. 2. I choose to re-type password from the popup, and this time type in the correct password. 3. The login with the correct password happens immediately without manual intervention. At least, hitting [Get Messages] manually ought to work immediately. I see a similar bug as follows, but that is about IMAP. The symptom seems very similar, though. Bug 607935 - after an initial incorrect password, all subsequent login attempts produce a login failure message I believe that this bug was fixed in 2005-2007 timeframe, but reappeared after TB 3.x series somewhere in the release cycle. TIA
