RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 981869

People

(Reporter: donrhummy, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140314220517

Steps to reproduce:

Visited https://www.google.com/events/io in both Firefox and Chrome on Linux

Actual results:

On Firefox, it's very slow and laggy/choppy

On Chrome it's very smooth

Expected results:

It should be as smooth as Chrome
I don't really feel the difference between latest Nightly and Chrome on Ubuntu 13.10 x86.

Could you please try the following :

1) try this with a clean profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

2) running in Safe mode: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
Hi,

I can confirm this in Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 ID:20140314220517 on Debian Sid: the page linked by the reporter is definitely slow.
The problem persist both in Normal Mode and Safe Mode.

In addition, when launching it in Safe Mode, I get the following message (but can be related to the restart and Firefox trying to restore several tabs at once, while trying to load that page):

"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: https://www.google.com/events/io/js/experiment.min.js:641"

I tried also with a clean profile, and the result is the same.

The same page opened with Chromium Version 33.0.1750.152 Debian jessie/sid (256984) is very smooth.

Cheers,
Francesca
This looks like a duplicate of bug 981869 (and other recent issues with google io pages duped to that bug, for example, bug 988625).

This is not a duplicate of that bug. Maybe you entered the wrong number? That bug is about an onchange event firing in a form. They're not related at all.
