Actual results: Unable to open the temporary file C:\Users\johnjo\AppData\Local\Temp\nsmail.tmp. Check your 'Temporary Directory' setting By disabling McAfee Real Time Scan the email was sent Expected results: the disabling of McAfee should not have been necessary to allow the email to be forwarded

(In reply to fleming from comment #0) > Expected results: > the disabling of McAfee should not have been necessary to allow the email to be forwarded Why it can be problem in Tb? (here is bugzilla.mozilla.org to report Tb's bug==flaw in Tb's code to developers) It's simply next, isn't it? You requested McAfee to scan a directory or file in a directory which Tb uses during mail composition -> McAfee executed scan according to your request -> McAfee correctly or wrongly deleted file which Tb created while mail composition -> because required file is missing, Tb showed error message. In this case, Tb is merel a victim of unexpected actions by you and your McAfee. Your setting of your McAfee is your explicit request to McAfee, regardless of that you explicitly set it or you implixcitly set it or you blindly used default. IIRC, default setting of major antivirus software is "don't scan %temp% directory" and "exclude *.tmp file". Did you alter such setting intentionally? If yes, why?
This is a long term problem with McAfee products, not Thunderbird.
