User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140131092626 Steps to reproduce: I selected newsgroups for offline use. NNTP authentication failed. Thunderbird put up the "login failed" prompt, and I hit Cancel because the problem is at the server. Actual results: Thunderbird repeatedly put up the "login failed" prompt and wouldn't stop, no matter how many times I hit Cancel. I turned off both "Check for new messages" entries in the account settings, but it still put up the prompt again. I could stop it by selecting "Work Offline," but that meant I couldn't use any other accounts. It started again immediately when I unchecked "Work Offline." The only way I could use other accounts was to uncheck each individual newsgroup for this account in Items for Offline Use. Expected results: Thunderbird should stop trying to sync messages for an account after a login attempt fails and not start again until the next successful login. It would also be nice to have separate offline settings for each account, so one account could be used online while another is offline.
