User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140314220517
Steps to reproduce:
Windos Vista 32 SP2 Thunderbird version 24.4.0 Dictionary English/Australia
1. Tbird configured Options with "Check spelling before sending" and "Enable spell check as you type" selected
2. Compose message with multiple spelling mistakes.
3. Right click on any underlined error and select correct word from options. Underlinings disappear.
4. Click Save in composition toolbar. Underlinings reappear.
5. This process can be repeated from step 3 until all errors are gone.
Actual results:
1. -
2. Tbird indicates all spelling mistakes with a red wavy underline.
3. Tbird corrects the error but all red wavy underlines disappear from the remaining errors. Right clicking these words does not bring up any spelling corrections.
4. After Save, Tbird now displays the remaining spelling errors with a red wavy underline.
Expected results:
3. After correcting an error using right click on the misspelt word, the remaining spelling errors should still be indicated. There should be no need to click Save to force spelling errors to be redisplayed.

Can you reproduce this with TB 38 or TB 45 (Earlybird)?
Most likely fixed in bug 1100966 and bug 1154791 (Gecko39/40). Fixes backported
to TB 38 in bug 1159817 and bug 1159815.

Hi Jorg
For me, this bug can now be closed as you suggested it was fixed in TB38.x. I have changed status to "resolved/duplicate" of bug 1100966.
Many thanks for pressing solving this bug which I agree with you was a real problem e.g. hard to recommend my wife to use Tbird to replace Outlook.
