This may be related to bug 88684. I don't know.
I have been having the same problem for some time on various
builds for Linux. It is still there in 0.9.4. It happens
in www.cnn.com. It happens in my.netscape.com, but only after
I read a story or check a stock quote. That is, if I just go
to my.netscape.com, I can use the back button to get out of it.
If I read a story, I can use the back button to get out of the
story, but then I cannot use it to get out of my.netscape.com.
This applies to alt-back-arrow, and the back button at the top
left, and the drop-down menu from Go, BUT, it does not apply to
to the menu that I get from the tiny button under the back
button in the classic skin. Then I can select the place I want
to go back to from the drop-down list, and that works.
Under 0.9.3 for Linux, the back button stayed permanently unavailable (grayed
out) regardless of browsing activity. I upgraded to 0.9.4 with the same results.
I installed Netscape 6.1 with the same results.

Finally, I deleted the ".mozilla" directory in the user's home directory, and
the back button seems to work correctly.

I am seeing what appears to be this bug as of 0.9.5 (2001101201 Linux)
on www.cnn.com. It did not happen with 0.9.4. Open a new browser
window, go to www.cnn.com, and click on any link (for example, the
"MAIN PAGE" link at the top of the left-hand column that takes you to
the same page you're on). The "back" button on Mozilla becomes grayed
out and unresponsive and alt-LeftArrow no longer goes back in the
browser window's history. If I visit other sites and follow links
for a while, the "back" button re-enables itself, but forgets about
cnn and one or two other pages.
Target Milestone: --- → mozilla0.9.6
The problem with cnn.com (with similar description) hasbeen described in
103978. I would like specific steps to reproduce any problem with
http://www.emuforums.com/. marking this dupe of 103978.
