I was talking with Erica S last week and she suggested that maybe Sabrina could design a new mozilla.org homepage promo tile for Maker Party with copy from Erica D.

What do you think?

What sort of timeline do you need?  Could you have it ready by the end of June for the start of Maker Party?

I got confused and thought it was the same thing. Are we updating the existing Webmaker Promo Banner to become the new Maker Party one?

You're right, Sabrina. There's been some crossover of ideas in the two bugs.

My understanding is that we get one banner tile at a time. While Maker Party is running, we'll use that. After Sept. 15 we'll revert back to Webmaker.

Jen, can you please confirm this? Also, were you hoping for a refresh of the original Webmaker tile? - This question also applies if I'm mistaken and we get two banner tiles for the duration of the Maker Party.

Per Erica Sackin's suggestion, we are updating the Webmaker banner AND creating a Maker Party banner.

Each of the 4 spots on the homepage represents Mozilla's 4 pillars:
1.  We shape environments
2.  We build great products
3.  We enable communities
4.  We teach the web

I could see Maker Parties in either spot #3 or #4, and Webmaker in #4.

I could see the possibility of having Webmaker in spot #4 and Maker Party in spot #3 simultaneously, but I am also working on some other "we enable communities" promos (to end the MDN dominance in that spot).  It would be great if the new Webmaker banner is ready before Maker Party promos start, just to refresh the page a little bit, but probably not a high priority.

There's a monthly meeting about homepage promo that Erica S attends.  Let me know if I should invite anyone else!  :)

Super. Thanks Jen. We'll work on getting both those banners done as soon as we can. We're pretty swamped with all things Maker Party right now, but if we find a window to get the Webmaker banner refreshed we'll jump on it.

Sabrina, can you please update this bug with the Maker Party Banner mock-up so we can keep the two bugs straight? Thanks.

Hi Erika and Hannah-

Do you think we could have final designs and text for this by June 27?  Is Mavis going to take a first pass at coding it?

We have the 4th of July holiday followed by an Engagement team offsite July 7-11, so we'd love to get this one live on July 2 in advance of the holiday and the offsite.

Sorry - the snippet testing doesn't conclude until July 4 so I won't have the text ready until the 7th at the earliest.

Design has pretty much been finalized (see attachment in this bug) so we're just waiting for text. 

Please assign someone else to code - I can't confirm Mavis' availability during that timeframe.

Just talked to Jen. We're afraid "Join our global maker party" is too long when it's displayed in the collapsed state (it's fine as a headline in the open state). It takes two full lines in English and I worry it could easily be three lines when it's localized, which wouldn't be the end of the world but it would be best to keep it to two lines if possible.

So for the collapsed state it could be "Join our maker party" or "global maker party" or maybe even just "maker party"? What do you think?

Let's go with "Join our Maker Party" for the collapsed stage, and "Join our global Maker Party" for the expanded state if it's possible to have different titles for each state. If the title must be the same, let's use "Join our Maker Party" for both.
